Blogs are easier to create and maintain. Also, updating and adding content is much easier to do and the owner can learn how to do it fairly easily. Blogs rank higher with the search engines as well because the content is added to and updated far more often than with websites.
People always talk of online success stories and fail to take into account of the people who have tried and have failed terribly. The truth is that many people have tried and failed. They say that the online business is a very tough business that requires you to continue to work on it. Just like any other business you need to have enough patience and humility to watch the businesses grow from scratch into multi-billion empires. However many people think that just because it is an online business it can be created in a day.
Profiles are easy to access. You can browse sites, enter your search criteria, and begin taking a look at the type of people that match that search criteria. You can see photos, read about their interests, and maybe even see video clips. This is all available at the touch of your mouse. You can check these out in the private of online blogs your own home.
One main reason I say this is because any good blog that will help you indeed will have loads of great content to read. The other reason is that the person running the blog should not be too obsessed with cheesy graphics.
As stated above, blogs by nature are just text content directories. Posts are often about only one detail of a topic. A lot of text, less HTML and no fancy gimmicks. And for the most part the links from and to such posts are natural, sincere and very relevant. Combine that with the frequently changing content and there you may have the reason that search engines love blogs and index them fast.
