Promote a blog? Why would a person do that? If you don’t know the answer to that question, maybe you shouldn’t have a blog. The purpose of having an online blog is to record your opinions, thoughts and views on a given topic, subject of issue. The blog becomes useless if no one every reads it. In addition to sharing your opinion with the world, a blog can also be used to make money. By adding links to affiliate programs or Google AdSense ads you can start making some money. If you are making money with your blog, you will definitely want to promote it.
So how do you do this? Well there are a few different ways to promote your blog. You can always put a link on the profile page or community profile of your blog. This gives other members of the community the choice to visit your blog or not. Another method is to inform your online friends of your Follow and like me here through private messages also called ‘pm’s’. Once you join a social networking website and create or join a network of friends, you should easily be able to communicate with those friends. It must be said that sending each of your friends a private message with information and a link to your blog, generally tends to be more effective than just placing a link on your profile page.
The next step is advertising your blogs. You can do this by joining various forums. Most forums or discussion boards allow you to have a signature with a link. Try to post interesting comments. This will make people curios to visit your blogs. The worst thing you can do is to invite people to read your blogs via email. This is considered to be spam. All you have to do is to get involved in discussions. Share your opinions and ask questions.
The design of the blog will also have a very important role to play in its performance. The design should reflect the kind of work you do. Getting professional help to design a customized online blog will always help improve your blog’s rankings.
Some people will have a blog where they come up with videos they love and curate that content. It’s called video curating or video content curation. It’s what big sites do all the time and you can easily get into do the same thing online for your blog or website. These things work well if you are really into typing and expressing yourself. Just be sure that you are helpful to your audience more than the video so they can get your insight and help from you directly. That is your special touch so to speak and everyone has their own unique twist.
You need to entice them to give you their contact information. Some people only ask for a name and e-mail, but I would also make it optional to give you their phone number. It has been my experience that people who give you their phone number are more serious and actually want a call from you to get more information. So don’t forget to follow up and call them if they do give you a number.
If you have been blogging for years then you probably aren’t going to be reading this article. Most of you reading this article are people who have been blogging for less than a couple of years. Because of that I strongly advise you to invest your time into developing a blog in some other niche. You would be far better off launching a hyper-local blog that talks about your own city, town or neighborhood. You will have a better audience even if you come from a relatively small town. You stand a better chance of actually making money with it too. Trust me. The MMO niche is not somewhere you really want to try to make money in when you have less than two years under your belt.
