Because exhaust is an important part of your cars performance, repairs to an exhaust system can be very expensive, costing hundreds or even thousands to replace. This cost is largely made up of parts and labor changes from your garage. The good news is, with a little safety, know-how and some tools, you can purchase the parts yourself and save hundreds over the price of a costly in-shop repair.
If the timing of the bursts of the group of cars from each road could be coordinated, with the signals in the area cars would not need to slow down and each burst of group of cars would be able to pass without slowing down or risking a mishap.
If you have gotten the factory exhaust off, you are pretty much in the clear. You will install your Magnaflow system in the reverse order of taking the old one off. You can start by matching up the resonator section with the flange to the flange on the scrap catalytic converter price guide and bolting them together. They slip the connecting pipe into the resonator pipe and clamp it down with the supplied clamp. This piece also connects to the factory chassis mount you removed earlier. Be sure to secure the hangers into the rubber bushings.
Finally, check the inside of the exhaust pipe. Use your finger to rub around the inside of it. There should always be a tiny bit of something in there but if you rub around in it and your finger comes out black, unless it is a diesel, that’s not a good sign. It usually means it hasn’t been running right and is burning way too much petrol. If it is a diesel, then lots of black stuff is normal.
